What is cradle cap?
Cradle cap is a rough, scaly yellow-brownish skin or infant dandruff on the scalp of the newborn babies. It’s called seborrhoeic dermatitis in dermatology. Cradle cap is an inflammatory condition caused mainly by overactive sebaceous glands.
Cradle cap usually lasts up to 12 months, it will not go off normally before that time and for some infants, it may even last longer. Though it will not be itchy or disturbing to the baby, we may feel unpleasant to see it not the baby’s scalp. We should not scratch it off on a dry state as it may hurt the baby and may get an infection. Even applying normal oils like olive oil, coconut oil etc. never gives a fast and fruitful result
So here is a tested and proven natural remedy for cradle cap removal
Take a thick bottom pan preferably cast iron, pour the coconut oil into it. By the time oil get heated crush the rock salt (if it is not in powdered form) using a hammer and add the powdered rock salt into it. Let it completely dissolve and then add the basil leaves, within a few minutes the oil gets a clear texture. Switch off the flame and once the oil gets cool, transfer it to an airtight container.
Before baby’s bath time, take a piece of cotton and damp it in the prepared oil and apply it over the cradle cap. Do not rub hard as it may hurt the baby, just gently apply and keep it for maximum 15 to 20 minutes (applying of any oil for a long time may cause cold and cough to baby). After 20 minutes with a soft baby brush, rub it gently and wash it off with mild baby shampoo. Within two to three days you will feel the difference.
It’s 100% organic natural remedy for cradle cap without any side effects.
I have tried it on my son when he was 2 months and cradle cap got removed easily within a week. Now he is 2.6 years old, till now his scalp is clear and no irritation or recurrence. It’s also said that those babies who apply this oil will not get dandruff in the future.
Please try a patch test over a small area on your baby’s skin and check whether it is allergic to him/her as each baby has different skin texture and sensitivity level
NB:Before adding rock salt, make sure the oil is not overheated or is in high flame..
