Here comes 5 tips which you could try out to make your naughty tot sleep on time:-
Tips 1: Schedule an early and consistent bedtime
It’s an important mission to get your baby sleep better, make sure you follow the routine. If your child learns that the rules are only sometimes enforced, they will start to think that it’s okay not to follow them. Remember they are smarter than us 😎
Even though it may seem counter-intuitive, an earlier bedtime like 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm may actually help your baby sleep longer. Keep in mind that ” Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise ” 🙂
Tips 2: Feeding Management
Hunger may be a main reason for your baby to wake up and cry at night in between the sleep. We know that even as adults, we feel sleepy if our tummy is full. So its always better to feed them till their tummy is full and encourage them to drink a glass of lukewarm milk just before bedtime.
Tips 3: Set a sleep time ambiance
Many sleep specialists have agreed that cooler rooms make more comfortable sleep. As recommended, the ideal temperature for baby sleep is around 18 to 22 degree Celsius. Dress up your baby with comfortable nightdress, because being too cold can also disrupt sleep.
Keep bed room clutter free and noise free,that is there should be less distractions for the baby. Baby bed /crib area should be free of toys and other fun knick knacks, that baby should feel “this is my place to sleep”.
Tips 4: Let the Light Dim
Light indicates daytime to baby, so closing the blinds of the window during morning baby naps thus blocking the sunlight may help. Also connect a dimmer to the lamp and turn it on and off gradually for night time feeding.Indeed, cut out all the light you can!!!!
Tips 5: Physical Activity
Having a bunch of unused energy at night may result in lack of sleep, especially in kids. Let them move around, dance or play out side and burn their energy, that physical activities will make them fit as well. Plan their activities mainly around evening time followed by a shower and healthy meal. This will surely make them fall asleep faster.
***Just make sure they don’t do any of these activities too close to bedtime as it may energize them.
Important : A poor sleep may be also due to teething, vaccination, illness, location change and routine shifts, that’s all right, and it may take two or more days to get back on track. Bed-wetting may also be a reason for disturbed sleep which can be solved by either using baby diaper or urine absorbent sheets at infant stage and toddlers/preschoolers can be bladder trained
Stick with it: In the first few days of sleep training, baby might cry or not fall asleep fast , but it doesn’t mean that it’s not working. If you feel that the technique you use is not successful, just try something new. Simply ensure you give at least one week before trying other pattern or you may never know
Don’t compare: Even within families, what worked best for one kid may not work for another. Don’t compare yourself with what your friends or people on social groups are doing. As every family’s sleep patterns are different.
It’s alright in case you’re not ready.. You can start preparing sleep time of a baby at any age, not necessarily within the first year, it can be done even in the coming years. In spite of the fact that specialists express it’s brilliant to know the developmental milestones and change the infant’s sleep time accordingly.
